About
Maryam is a Registered Nurse and a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of New York. She is also a Nationally Certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, which includes Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology from NCCAOM, the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She holds a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and a BSN with focus in Holistic Nursing from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM). She is the recipient of the 2015 PCOM Alumni Award for Demonstrating Inter-professional Communication.
As a Registered Nurse for fifteen years, Maryam has worked in many New York City hospitals, mostly in ER, but also in Pediatric, Psychiatric and Neo-Natal ICU. Maryam is passionate about introducing integrative therapies in the Western Medicine setting and has been active in many hospitals and clinics. She introduced acupuncture to NYU hospital staff during her internship. She also introduced acupuncture to the ER department of Bronx Lebanon Hospital. Most recently she offered acupuncture at Putnam Hospital Integrative Department for Breast Cancer patients.
Maryam is also a Polarity Therapy Practitioner and has studied Cranio-Sacral Therapy and Polarity with the Life Energy Institute. She has attended Shiatsu classes at Mother Hand Center, and Classical Acupuncture workshops with Jeffrey Yuen at the China Town Wellness Center.
She started her physical training as an actor in Experimental Theater at NYU in 1999. Since then she has taken many classes with Bonny Bainbridge Cohen at the Body Mind Centering Institute.
